Keys to Success Student Booklet

The Keys to Success Student Booklet contains a checklist of college and career readiness skills divided into five topics: Personal Readiness, Computer Technology Readiness, Academic Awareness and Readiness, Career Job Awareness and College Knowledge (Zafft, 2010). Teachers use it as a tool throughout ELL and ABE coursework to help students plan personal goals and reflect on the progress made toward their skills development and goals. The booklet is also an effort to help put ELLs on an even footing with native speakers, and an attempt to cover many topics and areas of preparation for first generation college students.

Early feedback shows that teachers and students appreciate the ideas in the tool, but find it difficult to integrate its use on a regular basis into an already full curriculum.
