Dear Student,

I am proud to talk with you in writing this little essay. In January when I began school in the Transition to College Program, I was undecided about continuing this program. Because I did not have any high education in my country and it was difficult for me to understand.

In the first week, we had the workshop. When the teachers gave us all the papers, I thought I would never finish with all that work. With the big help of my good teachers, however, I was able to do all that work. Now I am glad I did not drop out because I learned a lot.

Now I have the opportunity to tell you what I have learned. For example, I learned to be more confident in myself. Before when I needed to call some places like the Doctors office, Social Security, or other places I would ask my daughter to call for me. Now I do everything by myself because the knowledge of English I have gained has made more courageous and dedicated to continuing to make progress.

Besides that, I used to be confused about whether I want to go to College. Now I feel ready to continue my education in College. Last week I completed my placement test at CCRI and I am so happy.

I hope reading this letter makes you feel more strong and convince you to attend this program. As long as you take the responsibility to do all the work the teachers give you, and attend classes everyday as I did, I am sure at the end the semester you will enjoy and be ready to go to College as I am.
