Woman teaching"Opening Doors for Adults and Children" is the mission of the Adult Learning Center in Nashua, NH. We provide a variety of programs and services for students of all ages and backgrounds. Some of our offerings are Adult Basic Education and GED classes, English for Speakers of Other Languages, citizenship classes, Spanish classes, sign language classes, Clearway Alternative High School, computer courses, accounting classes, and medical career training programs. In addition, we provide child care for both pre-school and school-age children.

The Adult Learning Center's GET READY FOR COLLEGE is a comprehensive college transition program designed to help students make a successful transition into college.
Students with a GED or students who have graduated from a high school diploma program or students who have been out of high school for a significant number of years qualify for the program

This FREE program is for you if:Student gesturing with his hands and talking

  • You would like to enter college or a training program but want help with the process
  • You would like to identify and research your career choice
  • You want to improve your academic skills for success in college
  • You would like to be part of a group of adults working toward the same goal

PROGRAM FEATURES:

  • Career choice testing
  • College study skills
  • Math, reading, and writing refresher
  • Basic computer and word processing skills
  • Help with admissions and financial aid

ADMISSION PROCESS INCLUDES:

  • Interview
  • Academic Assessment
  • GED, High School Diploma ( from community adult program
    or dated at least 5 years ago)

SCHEDULE

  • Monday and Wednesday evenings, 5:30pm – 8:30pm
  • Fifteen weeks
  • Fall and spring cycles
  • Limited to 15 students each session

Collaborating Colleges:

The Get Ready for College students are encouraged to enroll in the college which best suits his or her individual career needs and financial resources.

However, the Get Ready for College program is primarily partnered with the New Hampshire Community College at Nashua. The college provides academic testing, workshops on financial aid and admissions, campus tours and mentoring for the transition program students.
