Nancy Spaulding, Coordinator Belfast Adult and Community Education (BACE) has served the mid-coast region of Maine and rural Waldo County since the 1960's. The program provides basic literacy instruction, high school completion, including GED and diploma classes, vocational training and general enrichment. BACE is part of a regional collaboration that includes three school districts and the Waldo County Technical Center in Waldo. The College Connection is a member of Building Communities for Children, a network of interagency collaborations with more than 35 local agencies and organizations. The College Connection partners with two local colleges: The Hutchinson Center (University of Maine Orono) and Eastern Maine Community College. The colleges provide Accuplacer testing and results, academic counseling, workshops and mentoring for our transition students.

The College Connection
The College Connection has placed students at the Hutchinson Center, the University of Maine at Augusta, University College of Bangor, and the University of Maine at Orono. The program provides ongoing support for our new transition students and networks with the Onward Program at UMO and the Cornerstone Program at UMA.
