The Bridge Program

When I first started this class, I knew right off I was going to have a difficult time. I knew that the class was to prep me for college and to see where I stand on the English level. When I took the test it wasn't very good. I knew that right off I was going to do very poorly.

The writing analysis was the most difficult for me. I had a hard time understanding it and I could not interpret the directions very well. I decided to do what I thought was the right way. After thinking about the assignment and doing the assignment I figured out what the whole meaning of the assignment was for. I learned from the analysis that the main idea and the main point is the most important part of the story and especially from the author's point of view.

When we had to do the grammar test to see where I was at I thought did all right to a certain extent. But after awhile I realize what my weaknesses were and my strengths. My biggest weakness was the fragments, which I now have a better understanding on the definitions and putting them into a sentence.

The reading and the vocabulary was the most enjoying part of the class. I knew that I wasn't going to do well on the writing part for the reading but I tried. I felt that the only way of learning what I did wrong was to write what I felt was the answers to the questions. When I got the assignments returned to me with the explanation on what I did wrong I knew next time what I needed to do different. Now, on the vocabulary, knew that I could have done better on the test if I hadn't gone so fast. When it comes to putting vocabulary words into sentences that is my other weak spot. Once I have someone explain the word into another context, that's when I have a better understanding on the definitions and putting them into a sentence.

In the past twelve weeks, I feel that I have made some progress. I know now that I can develop a better paragraph with a topic sentence. I learned that it helps a lot to read a story and to point out the main idea and the main points to get a better understanding. And finally, the vocabulary, you have to be very cautious on how you put the word in a sentence to make it sound right.
