Institutional Policy
""
Institutional policies cover a wide range of practices, many of which affect non-traditional adult learners. For example, policies regarding which scores on the College Placement Test lead to Developmental Studies courses versus courses that carry credit toward a degree often vary from one college to another within one state or region. These policies affect the rate at which students can complete a degree.

Ideally, practices that govern various aspects of the transition process are codified in Memoranda of Agreements or Understandings between ABE providers and their college partners. MOU/MOA's can be negotiated at the state level and/or at the level of individual institutions and providers. Below we present examples from the institutional level.
