ASSESSMENT

Sumner Adult Education
ABE to College Transition Program

After studying and discussing the assessment rubrics, students were asked to set goals for their learning.

Sample Student Response

1. I would like to be able to write in a logical, sequential order without having to repeat myself in order to be clear.

2. I would like to be able to paraphrase and restate ideas without my work having the same sentences as the original work. I would like to be able to express the same ideas but in my own words.

3. I would like to accomplish writing in all aspects. I would like to be able to:

  • clearly communicate
  • independently use a writing process
  • use some techniques to engage the reader
  • use a variety of vocabulary

After reading the rubric, I would like to make all of them a goal. I love to read and write and would like to do it in a clear, expressive way. Someday, I would like to write my life story but have it enjoyable for someone else to read.
