Join the National College Transition Network

The goal of the National College Transition Network (NCTN) is to support ABE staff, programs, and states in establishing and strengthening ABE-to-college transition services through technical assistance, professional development, collegial sharing, advocacy and increased visibility for this critical sector of the adult basic education system. Additional stakeholders in reaching this goal are postsecondary educational institutions and workforce development providers.

The basic membership is free and gives members access to a wide variety of resources, including:

  • information on various aspects of program development
  • bi-monthly updated list of regional and national professional development opportunities
  • original publications on promising practices and research to practice
  • annotated links to research, funding, and policy resources
  • occasional symposia on topics of interest to members
  • eNewsletter announcing updates of the Web site

NCTN is intended for anyone interested in helping GED, EDP/ADP, and ESOL graduates and other non-traditional adult learners gain access to, prepare for, and succeed in postsecondary education. The Network serves policy-makers, staff development providers, practitioners, and researchers, all of whom can join as members. The Network provides a forum for learning and dialogue about practices, polices, and research that supports effective college transition programs for non-traditional adult learners. These programs may be located in schools, colleges, prisons, workplaces and community-based organizations.

The NCTN also provides fee-based technical assistance and professional development on:

  • planning and designing college transition programs
  • developing instructional content and support services
  • creating evaluation tools
  • forming partnerships with postsecondary institutions
  • developing program guidelines and funding
