Students
should demonstrate mastery over the following competencies before entry
into College Pre-Algebra.
I. Operations with Whole Numbers

- and division to 3-digit accuracy with carrying and borrowing, place value, rounding.
II. Fractions, Ratios, Percents and Decimals
- Fractions, addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division addition (basic fractions only)
- Decimals, addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division addition (basic decimals only)
Pre-College Algebra Scope and sequence
You may not be able to cover all of the competencies with each student or with each cohort. Ideally, at the completion of ABE-to-College Pre-Algebra, students should demonstrate mastery of the following competencies:

- Convert proper to mixed, mixed to improper
Fractions and Decimals
- Convert decimals to fractions and fractions to decimals
- Solve mixed problems
- Order mixed decimals and fractions
- Multiply/divide by powers of 10
- Find higher powers and square roots
- Simplify problems with multiple operations.

- Convert percents to decimals/fractions/decimals/fractions to percents

- Use data to set up graphs
