About Us

The National College Transition Network (NCTN) at World Education, Inc. strengthens policy and practice that prepares nontraditional learners, such as veterans, dislocated workers, and under and unemployed adults for college and careers. The NCTN provides technical assistance and professional development services to community college systems and adult education programs to design models for accelerated career pathways, comprehensive student support services, and engagement with the workforce system. Please explore our website to view the tools and resources, technical assistance and professional development efforts we provide.

Large-Scale Professional Development Initiatives

The NCTN works with large-scale initiatives to assess system capacity and to design and deliver a customized approach to professional development. Our approach considers context, scale, and uses data for greatest impact. We promote active and collaborative learning that participants can incorporate into their jobs and sustain over time.

Accelerating Opportunity
 – As a partner and member of the national leadership team the NCTN designed professional development for this multi-state initiative that involves over 50 community colleges and over 100 career pathways focused on integrating basic skills with occupational training and adequate institutional support for adult learners.

The National Career Awareness Project
 – The NCTN designed and implemented an extended professional development and state capacity building project in 16 states to assist scaling up of career planning activities across the adult basic education system.


Adult Career Coach/College Navigator Training – The NCTN is working in Virginia and Massachusetts on designing and delivering statewide training for Department of Labor-funded college navigators located in each of the One Stop Career Centers. NCTN has also designed an online course that is the centerpiece of the Virginia Community College System’s Adult Career Coach Certification Training.

Arizona Comprehensive Operations Action Plan - The NCTN is working with the Arizona Department of Education/Adult Education Services to effectively integrate Arizona’s College and Career Readiness standards.  Through professional development and leadership coaching designed and delivered by NCTN, over sixty adult education administrators and instructional leaders will successfully transition adult students to college and career pathways. Activities include facilitated, customized online courses, evidence-based study groups, and in-person trainings.

Technical Assistance on Policies and Practices on Experiential Learning

The NCTN provides technical assistance, coaching, and professional development to colleges and college systems to guide the effective implementation of an improved, streamlined approach to Prior Learning Assessment across systems. The NCTN conducts regional and system-wide scans of Prior Learning Assessment policies and practices and convenes college leaders, administrators and staff to align policies to ensure that all the elements of a strong Prior Learning Assessment system are implemented and promoted.

Retraining the Gulf Coast Workforce Through IT Pathways Consortium – The NCTN is providing training and technical assistance on Prior Learning Assessment policies and practices to this Department of Labor-funded Consortium of nine community and technical colleges in Mississippi and Louisiana to meet the high demand for IT workers.

Resources and Training for Online and Technology-Enhanced Learning

The NCTN /World Education offers online professional development courses and designs customized approaches that blend virtual and face-to-face formats.

E-Learning Professional Development - Self-paced and facilitated online professional development courses for educators. Online course topics include:

The NCTN also trains educators on effective use of current technology applications into their instructional practices.

Words2Learn Mobile Learning Project - Training for educators on using this state-of-the-art mobile learning management system to accelerate adults' learning of academic and health career related vocabulary and concepts.


College for Adults: Health Careers - Hybrid college readiness program for adults interested in pursuing degrees health careers. The program features a facilitated, online Introduction to Health Science course as well as college preparatory reading, writing, math and technology skills contextualized for health careers.
