Elaine BakerElaine Baker

Dr. Elaine DeLott Baker is a nationally recognized expert in career pathways for low-skilled adults and accelerated developmental education learning communities. Dr. Baker’s primary perspective is that of a practitioner, but her focus is on the interplay of policy and practice in educational reform. She is currently the Acceleration Specialist for the Colorado Community College System’s Trade Adjustment Act and serves on the system’s Developmental Education Task Force. Dr. Baker was the principal investigator for the Colorado Lumina Initiative for Performance, a team member of the Ford Foundation’s Bridges to Opportunity Project, and Project Director of the Colorado Community College System’s “Ready for College” initiative. Baker is a frequent national presenter on workforce development and remedial education topics, including accelerated developmental education, career pathways, and contextualized skill development. She has authored articles on a variety of topics, including acceleration, contextualized teaching and learning, family literacy, and developmental math and technology.
